Merry Christmas Peru Style

Here We Come a Caroling

For the Seniors' Family Home Evening on Monday December 23rd, we went caroling in our neighborhood. It was a lot of fun to go caroling in warm weather--no coats or boots to worry about. We had a lot of people stick their heads out of their windows and listen to us.
Senior Missionaries caroling!
Before FHE we headed out to Cieneguilla to deliver Christmas presents. We visited with three families and gave them some small gifts. They gave us much more in return--smiles and love.

Christmas Eve

This band was playing Christmas songs on Christmas Eve!
We listened to them with Kirstin and Frances.
The wonders of technology.
We were invited to spend Christmas Eve with the Amato's and their family. The office elders were also there. We started the night with a spiritual thought about Christmas. We went around the room and told why we were glad!  G--what we were grateful for, L--one thing that we had learned this year, A--what we had achieved this year, and D--one thing that we had delight in. We had a lovely Christmas Eve dinner of turkey and ham.
President Amato's brother and his family were visiting from Toronto.
Then for the fun! White elephant gifts! Elder Pardo wrapped his very funny clock and pineapple Christmas tree in several boxes, starting with a refrigerator box. The gift that everyone wanted was a very large Lindt chocolate bar. The funniest gift was a mug with different pictures of President Amato's face on it.
Getting ready for the white elephant presents.
We got home just before the fireworks started at midnight to welcome the birth of our Savior! That is a fun custom here in Peru.

There was a name tag for each missionary.

Can you see our name tags?

Christmas morning was a potluck brunch with the Senior missionaries. Then we talked with family to wish them a very Merry Christmas!

Light the World

We hope at this special time of the year and throughout the coming new year that you will continue to light the world with kindness to others.
Serve as our Savior would serve and love as our Savior would love!

Ginny, Ezra, and Isaac made us the tree ornaments.
They arrived in one piece and we love them!

We would stroll through different neighborhoods at night looking at the Christmas lights.
